Pros

Nordson is a good company that takes care of the entire workforce. Compensation for hourly and salaried employees is competitive both on a local and national basis. The customer base for Nordson products is located world-wide. Nordson's company governance is one that focuses on the customers and employees, and has over time been focused on the long-term survival and prosperity of the company. In recent times it seems more like short-term stock price performance and strong revenue growth has taken the long-term approach to task. In general, Nordson is a good company to work for, and the brand name is held in high regard for product quality and performance.

Cons

Limited opportunity for advancement. The staff at Nordson is well qualified, but it is also run lean and at capacity. Someone has to leave before an advancement opportunity becomes available. And in most cases, they choose just to downsize by attrition. The company was at one time family owned with members of the Nord family holding the majority of stock. At the ownership of the company is not quite as clear. Stock market fluctuations, forcasts, projections and the bottom line have a growing and sometimes adverse affect on the way business is performed. The flames of innovation are quickly dwindling.

Pros

Cheap benefits, decent compensation, good ground floor staff

Cons

-Management is a joke. Management changes “leaders” and policies so often it’s just chaos -poor structure. Organization is just a ton of small companies who share things like HR, legal. It’s very inefficient. -company is stuck in 80’s mentality. Massive bonuses for higher ups, failure to see anything other than revenue as important -the most self obsessed, yet insignificant organization I’ve seen. They think they are a big fish which is funny. -Unprofessional management and key business functions as a result of decentralization and lack of communication -business practices I find to be discriminatory, racist, and unethical -very little growth opportunities -purchase companies and tank them -just overall I’ve never been more disappointed in any organization I’ve been a part of

Pros

Just the benefits, unfortunately. Their benefits are of a basic standard, but other than that, read below for the truth.

Cons

[WARNING | Read this before applying] The company is nowhere near a workable place. There were so many issues and problems that came up that made this company a very toxic, unprofessional company in so many ways. Bullet Point: - The work culture is very toxic and many workers talk behind your back to talk very negatively about you. They (US, Duluth Team) talked a lot about their German colleagues for no reason, which caused a lot of hostility in the workplace. I wouldn't be surprised if they talked very negatively about some of their other colleagues in different countries as well. - The hostility at the workplace is so unreal. People take everything personally and have an attitude of that of a preschool kid who gets upset when you take away their toy or tell them no and they pitch a fit. Many of the workers are seemingly stressed there because no one seems to be a team player of learning how to help each other. Most managers is not really managers, they are just high school bullies who expect things from people without leading them and take all the credit and take every ounce of your work as their own for their own benefit. They do not check on you and when you ask for a review of things or need help, they act as if they are not your manager and you should be able to do the job on your own because you are hired for it as a lone wolf. Then when you question other people's work or give input, people get hostile and aggressive to protect their work for some reason like their pride takes the best of them and they start to scrutinize you a way that is diminishing. - A lot of managers, senior, and director-level individuals are very selfish, racist, and discriminate. I have never seen this much unprofessionalism in my life to the point you start making racist remarks about the CEO in front of your coworkers who are of different races as well. Racism is a huge issue at this company and so many high-level employees use racism so often to the point that it is unsafe to work there. Additionally, they are very selfish to always take things from you and put it onto their portfolio to say they did the work and they take the credit to get their own promotions and benefits. They do not give enough credit to their other employees and devalue their works a lot more when they didn't do a great job in their opinion. when others thought they did an amazing job. Their attitude and leadership is terrible. - The community at the company is honestly terrible. The leadership does not take care of their workers to make them feel at home or feel part of a company that is taking care of their workers properly. They do not know when to show appreciation, they do not know when to give care or support, they do not know how to listen, and they do not know model of good leadership in the modern day of today. - The company is stuck in the 1980's mentality and it will probably never change what so ever. If you are a young person who is looking for a career start or advancement, this is not the workplace for you and you are better off working at a company that has a lot of value in their workers and puts their workers first than the business. This company mentality, managers specifically, have the mentality to put the company first than the interest of the people. They do not care of firing you, dropping benefits and pay, etc. They will put the companies interest first before helping you out if you are struggling with health, mental, family, and any other issues. They are that selfish. - They do not care about your mental health or over all health. I spoke to my manager about my mental health to seek more assistance, but they did not give me assistance what so ever. After disclosing it, 30 days later, they let me go. This company does not care about how you are in your mental health and what you are going through. They are more of just working as a robot and get the job done as needed. - Pay is honestly terrible, not going to lie. They do not compensate their workers very well and when you ask about career advancement or opportunities to increase yourself and your career. They said, just do a good job for a couple of years, then you will get their. They will low-ball you more times over than help you in anyway possible. - They are very closed minded and not open minded. They do not like change and are not open to change, but they preach about innovation??? That makes zero sense. They want to make new changes but then when a new change happens, they literally get uncomfortable and say no more times than look to the possibilities and future of improvement. They talk about innovation as if it is their moto, but they do not really apply that with their internal strategies. They just want to make money and that's it. Conclusion | This is a dying company and people who are of the ages of 18-40 shouldn't really work here. Many of these workers are of a conservative, closed mindset that is stuck in the 80's and there is to be little change to be done with a company that doesn't know how to support their own community. They only know how to support their pockets more than give a helping hand. This a career recked company, and my advice is to stray away with working with them if you know whats best for you, especially in the marketing department.
