Pros

The pay isnt too bad and if your in your early 20's it's a great place to meet other people/co workers. The discount is only 20% but twice a year it's 40% so thats a plus!

Cons

Managment are always stressed out because of sales goals and take it out on employees. HR is a joke! They underpaid me for 6 months and when I found out they didn't do anything to fix the past just changed my commission rate so that it would be what it was supposed to be the entire time!

Pros

The discount and the gratis (free products)

Cons

Commission-based sales makes for a very cutthroat, competitive environment. Not a very team approach. Any returns your customer makes comes off your commission. This is quite typical for commission-based sales. And although employees are encouraged to "save the sale" of fellow employees when customers return products for new products, they are often not honest and take the sale for themselves. We called these employees "sharks." Nordstrom is basically shark-infested water. As long as you are aware of this you'll be fine.

Pros

the stores are usually pleasant environments, decent foot traffic, cheerful employees and customers most of the time.

Cons

sales associates are sometimes faulted for circumstance beyond ones control. when the eoncomy is good, everyone looks good, when the economy is bad, everyone (almost) looks bad. robotic personalities are also required.
