Pros

Decent benefits, good people there for the most part, and conservative approach has paid off during recession. This company has a nice reputation if you don't mind the conservative no risk approach.

Cons

Management fails to communicate, and most of operations will be moved to a cost efficient location... INDIA. Movement within the company difficult and pay does not reflect performance.

Pros

Good, stable place to work with generally good internal communications from senior management. Morale is pretty good among staff.

Cons

Northern Trust is a very difficult place to receive good training and progress your career. Not in the budget' is the frequently cited reason. Pay tends to be average-to-low end of the scale.

good company, more stable than any other banks

Pros

Northern is a leader in the industry and the name and reputation command respect. Client service is very important and has helped set us apart from the others. Good benefits. It has not been hurt as badly in the past year as any of the other banks. I do get raises!!! Wide variety of services we can provide for clients. Very conservative culture. Sensitive to minority groups (Women, LGBT, Asian, Latin, African-American)

Cons

Not quick to hire replacements for people who have left - saves money. (If you hire good people they will pick up the slack for a long time, doing 2 jobs for the price if one.) Bonuses and raises are small. Changes happen slowly. Sometimes important things are learned through the grapevine, not from management. Intense sales pressure
