Pros
People there really respect your personal life and you as a person. They understand that when alot of these banks and bankers boast 70 hour work weeks they are just killing people's lives for stupid face time. Also, I experienced some great leadership there, and got a chance to significantly contribute to my group. What is actually excited is the new type of leadership that Northern Trust is seeking out - hungry and demanding, but still respecting the Northern Trust culture of maintaining a collegial environment.
Cons
They are SO collegial or political or nice there that a hungry, young Turk may get his/her hand slapped for overstepping the myriad invisible lines of culture. The more likely case, however, is that the young Turk will simply be reminded of the "Northern Way" of marginal improvement and slow evolution by a lifer.
