Pros

While I gained some valuable experience in the lab, it was always met with a lack of support and instruction. My direct supervisor lacked true leadership skills so it resulted in some serious miscommunication and what ultimately started the snowball of all of the reasons why I left.

Cons

Everything is extremely paper heavy for some reason like computers and the internet don’t exist? I made my daily tasks so efficient just utilizing computers and the internet as they are intended so that I actually worked for maybe 3 hours a day. The company as a whole cares WAY more about the amount of hours you are in the building than any actual tangible work you produce. If my tasks are done for the day, I should be able to leave and if something comes up later on, it should be able to be done remotely within “regular working hours”. I should not be expected to be in the building for 9 hours (1 hour mandatory unpaid lunch). There needs to be more flexibility to accommodate a life-work balance that fits in 2023. Something needs to change to accommodate, support, and acknowledge the real life things people go through while still having to attend work. My mental health went down the drain because of this job so much so that I devalued my life. Even when I quit, I gave them the courtesy of giving a notice when I really didn’t need to. They never told HR when I gave them the notice, and waited for over a week seeing if I was going to change my mind. So HR essentially got a same day notice when I left.

Outdated, runs like a start-up company

Pros

Tuition reimbursement is good. If you have a good manager, it will make things better. Cafeteria is nice. Definitely some good people working there who want to make change for the better

Cons

Highly sexist. Women are told they were hired to look good. Instead of correcting poor performance, people are promoted. Women have been "discouraged" from reporting cases of verbal harassment to HR because of favoritism. Interdepartmental communication is basically non-existent. Very, very resistant to change and embracing new, current methods. Not a competitive employer. Special rules/exceptions for special folks.

Pros

Good cafe and parking. Pay was OK

Cons

Out of date bureaucratic processes. Colleagues are superficially friendly but happy to throw you under a bus when things don't go to plan.
