Pros

great benefits in full time employment. Nice profit sharing plenty of pto

Cons

Busy and understaffed during the busiest times. You get plenty of pto, just can't use it. Planting and harvest time your putting your life on hold, if your at a busy plant your busy from March to middle of July or later, you are working weeks of 70-100+ hrs In a row if the weather stays good, it's the same with fall your 70-100 hr weeks until the ground freezes . Oh you wanted a night with family, too bad, customer called you gotta get this field done tonight. Sales reps are muck stirring people that enjoy the drama they cause. Trucks are sketchy at best, shut up and drive it is heard quite often. Saftey is talked about and how serious they are about it until they find out how much it cost or interferes with anything then it's ignored. You got a doctor's appointment, hopefully it's not during busy season or they force you to cancel it, make it during the slow season, again they will have a fit and force you to cancel it. Dont expect to get promoted, job openings at your location are but word of mouth and only to selected few. The CSA score is extremely high and they really do nothing about it other then talk about lowering it.

Pros

The ag industry is more exciting than you would expect from the outside. There is real innovation happening in ag and Nutrien is a leader in the space. There are great people there and if you find the right group you can do good work. Just be prepared for backstabbing, the politics can be brutal (at least in the digital division).

Cons

Two things: Politics and tech debt 1. There are some nasty people in the digital division who you don't want to get on the wrong side of. Disagree with product leadership at your own risk. These people smile to your face and then talk behind your back. There's lots of turnover partly because talent leaves when they realize the political landscape. But there is also turnover because people have their job one day and are unexpectedly gone the next because they unintentionally angered the wrong person. 2. The other downside is the huge amount of technical debt associated with their transition to SAP. They've been working on it for 3+ years and there is no end in sight. Long, slow, grueling roadmaps are the norm. The further behind they get, the more pressure is put on the people who do the work. Working nights and weekends was normal and encouraged in the months before I left.

Pros

Great pay and benefits. It's especially nice if you're not in management as little accountability is ever held.

Cons

Company has gone woke and actively discriminates against "Non-Diverse" employees, aka "White Males". A large number of Safety rules are confusing, contradictory and impossible to follow. Company policy is hard to follow, find and understand. HR doesn't support supervisors below the level of manager, often treating them like criminals until they can prove their innocence. Training has become just an exercise in CYA, no longer caring if employees understand the material. Little to no accountability for non-management employees. Environmental policies are loosely followed with employees encouraged to misreport or turn a blind eye.
