Great company with lots of opportunities

Pros

Great benefits. The opportunities are there for people who have the aptitude to run their own store. I have made a lot of friends, both customers and coworkers. There is always something different, and the work never gets boring. Helping customers solve their problems is a very rewarding job. The majority of our customers are easy to deal with as long as you treat them with respect.

Cons

Moving beyond store manager is tough. Long hours and lots of pressure to meet sales goals. Loss prevention auditors can pop in any day. Audits are inconsistent, and your score depends on who you have for your auditor. Your end of year bonus is mostly affected by your audit score. At least they only come in once a year. Finding good people is the hardest part of a store manager's job. Employee theft can be a real problem.

Pros

If you only need short term, part time work with no benifits it's still a good place to work. The store managers do their best to make the schedule fit everyone's needs.

Cons

While employees are still called "team members" that's no longer the feeling in the stores. Turnover has become so high it seems there's a whole new crew every few months.

Pros

There was plenty of work to do and checks were never late. When you do really good customer service, they give you a Shamrock Award pin (still have mine)

Cons

Worked without a weekend off for more than 18 months. Was promised things would change when ______ (fill in the blank). Our store operated at 18%-35% of allocated hours (we were always short staffed). Was encouraged to train off the clock (there is a lot of internal web training required).
