where do i even begin...
- minimum wage
- old and sometimes disrespectful customers
- management is always on your back as a cashier, pressuring you to get people to sign up for the store rewards card or give donations. i was told by one manager to ask customers three times before taking no as an answer
- they force you to work weekends even if the store doesn't need it. i've been scheduled on a saturday or sunday with five other cashiers and we get about three customers every hour
- only get a 10 minute break for a 5.5 hour shift
- poor technology. the POS system constantly crashes/freezes, and managers have to call IT to get it fixed while people are stuck waiting in line
- store is usually a mess and is literally falling apart, especially the back room
- constant revolving door of employees, poor employee retention
- always given busy work even if there's nothing else that has to get done
