Pros

In this economy and at my age, they have been a stable employer. If I had the money to move out of the area, I would.

Cons

Ever since they took over our small hospital, it's all about money and consolidation. All the top management bailed out shortly before they took over, which should have been a clue as to how they run things. They changed our policies to be less generous, they plan to cut our staff and have done so already. For all their talk of "transparency" they keep us in the dark about their plans pretty much up until it happens. Since they are the major employer in this town, nobody opposes them much anymore. There are a lot of older people that work here and they cannot afford to lose their jobs in this economy.

Pros

Strives for service excellence and quality care, size of organization gives opportunity for transfer, lots of good people there that help you stick together

Cons

Believe it WE is a great slogan but I wish the organization would tell the public more of what "WE" sacrifice to make it what they espouse. Health insurance was cut but is better than some places these days I suspect. There is some cronyism and nepotism in certain departments and a tendency to pad management levels above what is necessary. I feel there is too much upper and middle management for an organization of this size. Once you're in management you tend to be a "made man". Upward mobility is more relevant to "towing the line" at times than individual employee potential. There is somewhat of a caste system between medical and non-medical personnel (probably universal in health care). There is more of a "there's the door if you don't like it" mentality than there should be. Many employees forego their own medical care and health needs because it's not worth the hassle of appealing the insurance machine. It is not a good feeling to go without proper health care when you work in a sea of doctors.
