Pros

Ability to pick up shifts any time (nobody shows up to work so you can have as many hours as you’d like essentially)

Cons

For starters this happened at Riverside Methodist in the main pharmacy. At the 6 month mark of working there they forced 1st shift full time workers to choose multiple 3rd shifts they’d like to work because “there are people on vacation” that need covered. Again, I was a first shift worker magically being told at the 6 month mark that I had to work 3rd and 1st shift in the same week. This went on from 6months until the day I left there. I brought this to managements attention that if they force all new hires into this, they should disclose this information in interviews because the main reason I was there was simply for my 1st shift schedule I was promised. It’s also extremely dangerous to have your body go back and forth shifts like this. Second LARGE issue is the lack of accountability. There are SEVERAL expired medications in the main carousels in the pharmacy. I was training a new technician (started training new employees after I had only been there 3 months and expressed my discomfort since I was new myself but still forced to train) on her FIRST day and she was doing cycle counts and found a medication that was TWO YEARS expired. We use this carousel all day, every day, dispensing medications all throughout the hospital and this is unacceptable. The narcotic vault was disgusting and so disorganized it was honestly scary. There were several instances I would walk into the vault and see random narcotics that were supposed to be locked up, left out for DAYS at a time with nobody claiming to know what was going on there. I spoke to HR after I left and shared my concerns for PATIENT SAFETY. Last point about patient safety I would like to make is that I worked up in pharmacy anesthesia we changed from Pyxis to Omnicell & we were given ZERO training on how to use them and even worse we were forced to staff where we were ruling them out in the hospital for the first time. I had a SURGEON that needed something refilled STAT I had to stop them during SURGERY to tell them my manager hasn’t given me access to this yet & I needed someone to open the drawer for me to refill it. They were shocked and embarrassed and so was I. The manager knew that we needed enrolled and still went along with letting multiple people staff an area we couldn’t get into the machines at. SURGERY wing of all places.

Pros

Pays well. But not worth the stress

Cons

Horrible management and upper management. We always said people “fail up” in this company. The more of a bully you are and lazy at your job the more promotions you get! Oh and the insurance sucks! Worst health insurance around!
