Exodus of tech talent and institutional knowledge

Pros

- Tuition reimbursement - PTO policy

Cons

OnDeck used to be a great place to work out. However, after two rounds of layoffs, the company is seeing lots of attrition and a sizable amount of institutional and tech knowledge leaving the front door. The company is now focused on short-term goals to the detriment of intermediate and long term goals. Appears that leadership is making short-term adjustments in the hopes company will get acquired.

Bloat Everywhere

Pros

The goal of the company is good, and it could potentially become a solid player in the financial industry. The people in the company also conduct themselves in a friendly and professional manner. Very nice location in Manhattan, near many shops and good eating establishments.

Cons

The size of middle management is ever expanding, with few of them willing to make any concrete decisions. Everyone seems to be "busy", but there is very little to show for it. Bloat in the company is starting to become apparent, and largely is due to poor management of resources and lack of training. The people at the top clearly do not want to share their responsibilities, even when they are struggling to keep up, which contributes to the broad consensus that there is very little room for growth at the company. These "opportunities for growth" usually appear when high ranking people leave the company. The story about the company also doesn't quite add up. The credit model is supposed to be very good, so our charge-off rates should be very low. We say much of our loan underwriting and processing is automated, yet our rates are far higher than what banks offer, which process loans manually with many applicants being rejected for a loan.
