Share Holder Value Focused Company / Not Customer or Employee

Pros

Steady work and management leaves you alone as long as the customer is happy and projects are on schedule and under budget. Lots of opportunities if you seek them out and network. Lots of great in-the-ditches / behind-the scenes employees keeping the services running that are largely way over-shadowed by vocal sometimes pompous Marketing and Sales driven management.

Cons

Sales over-sells and over promises to make sales numbers. Employees / every-day workers have to clean up ill conceived contracts to make-it-happen. Company is 75% Share-holder Value focused 20 % Customer Focused and 5 % Employee focused. Open Text is clearly a different corporate culture than GXS and probably other acquisitions. Sr Management is mainly focused on Growth and More Growth and therefore changes and probably layoffs for some who can't adapt.

Awful products

Pros

I guess you could say that the products kinda function if you can get them working correctly

Cons

OpenText makes some of the worst document management software I've ever had the misfortune of interacting with. And the worst part is that government clients aren't intelligent enough to recognize a bad product when they see it, so OT has been ripping them off for years.

Pros

Good compensation with some very talented staff and people who will often go the extra mile, just not enough of them

Cons

No career support or growth, you're on your own! Poor HR and internal support, they are only interested in the companies interests, not it's employees Ever changing staff Lack of strong middle management and guidance especially if you work remotely.
