Pros

Huge sales pipeline with very good margin on products. The number of staff is increasing and the short term outlook looks very good indeed. Lots of good people.

Cons

The medium to long term outlook is not so good. The company needs to seek other opportunities. The company is not managing the huge increase in sales very well. Processes are lackluster and the company does not invest in desperately needed systems.

Pros

Free coffee and free pizza last Friday each month, and majority of guys are very helpful.

Cons

Just in relation to the supervisor comment. I can tell u first hand that the supervisors r well covered in optel. Nothing like sitting around all day staring at your computers pretending Ye are working. Ye have no input to what and how the project is being done. Your morning meetings, that you ask when will the project be done, not a care of the project is done or not. Ye are all puppets on a string being pulled from Canada and of course you would speak up for the place your jobs are very safe can’t get rid of guys that stare at computer screens all day. The way Ye marched guys out in front of the whole factory floor to see to bring them into the front office to tell them they were being left go was great supervisor skills. Have to agree with someone’s else comment Ye are only other companies rejects. There are no other opportunities to progress. Everyone is out here stuck on their laptops doing nothing. This forum is a simple indication to other people who are thinking of joining Optel to not join optel. The place is ran like a joke. There are guys wiring panels that arnt even qualified to do so and the guys that are qualified have a very hard job of trying to fix the Guys who are not qualified work. Yes I do agree every company has bumps but if I had a company I would make sure I have a forecaster and sales team that were capable of getting work and forecasting what way the company will be taking into account regulations that may or may not happen and not take people out of jobs to join yere so called company. Yeah hours are great and you will still get your bonus 4 times a year but what about the 15 left go before Christmas and the one that was fired, but that’s ok you still have your 37.5 hr wk to sit in front of you’re computer and get paid for doing nothing. Think Louis needs to rethink who he has sitting in front on those computers. Does he want clowns like ye or supervisors that actually work and want the company to be successful. When are you going to realize that when their is no work coming to limerick it goes back to Canada and you too will have no jobs just like the 15 before Christmas, see how positive your outlook is then.

Pros

Responsible company Free coffee and fruits Flexible work hours Great installations (ergonomic chairs and desks) It was a great environment to work before the decline

Cons

Poor management. They don’t have a clue what they are doing. Wrong people with questionable abilities and experience are promoted. If you are a sucker, then you have a chance. Higher management doesn’t listen to anybody. They are drowning in their own arrogance. Internal communication and transparency doesn’t exist.
