Pros

Oshkosh Defense is the leading OEM of Tactical Wheeled Vehicles. The product and trucks manufactured are the industry best. Defense trucks save the war fighter's lives

Cons

Upper Management within GPSC at Oshkosh Defense is very out of touch with the day to day business at the ground level. GPSC is overworked and under staffed. Everyone works long hours and has an unmanageable work load.

Pros

Good hourly wages. Seasoned production workers who care about the company. Helpful and friendly co-workers.

Cons

Company has lost its legacy and culture of employee trust and respect. Used to have a world-class Continuous Improvement environment led by management team that had an investment in the community and company. With no solid succession plan, brought in too many outsiders that killed employee involvement and attitudes. Rather than spend the energy to fix and improve a 20-year employee involvement program, just dismissed it. Appears most new managers are looking for short-term numbers and another line item on their resumes - little respect for employees and their welfare. Now a command-and-control style of leadership. Leadership has taken away employee ownership of their work environment and output. The resulting poor morale is being addressed by playing Safety Bingo and other trivial , meaningless strategies. The management team seems arrogantly indifferent to the vast experience of seasoned employees. Unfortunately, most gains realized by this new management will not be sustainable over the long haul. That's because there is no employee involvement and employee ownership of their work. Drive-by Kaizens, community events and Safety Bingo are not any substitution for the powerful employee engagement the company once had.

Pros

People First culture at a high level

Cons

This company drives to attract top talent, and has no plan for when they get it. Speaking only from my experience - and it really depends on your leader - if you're transparent with a toxic leader that you'd like to explore opportunities in other areas of the business you can expect all investment in your career growth and development to stop and to get prevented. It's also apparently acceptable for female leaders to get a pass for toxic behaviors that would get a male leader fired. From my experience, absolutely not a world's most ethical company. This is a great company to work for IF you're accepting a job you want to work for the rest of your life. Know you have 0 career growth and development and any hope of improvement may and can get squashed by toxic leadership. Merit increases equate to participation trophies, and you're worked like dogs if a second fulltime job gets added as a business goal.
