Pros

Skilled, collaborative teammates on the Essentials team A few genuinely competent managers who try to do right by their people Remote flexibility and exposure to diverse clients

Cons

Department management is incapable of providing the structure, support, or transparency needed for employees to succeed. Communication around internal opportunities is inconsistent and often handled poorly. Decisions about roles and promotions are made without transparency or direct dialogue, leaving teams confused and demoralized. Chronic overutilization continues unchecked - new clients added without capacity planning, untracked internal meetings, and unrealistic expectations to manage former client requests. Difficult conversations are routinely avoided, resulting in frustration, attrition, and disengagement.

A Chop Shop Dumpster Fire

Pros

- Work from home - Home office start up bonus - Some great team members that genuinely care. - The CEO is genuinely a good person and someone you can get behind. That’s it.

Cons

OuterBox is, without question, the worst job I have ever had in my professional life… - A toxic workplace landscape from upper management and down. What you hear from your manager is smoke and mirrors. - A chop shop approach with packaged solutions that are so convoluted, it’s a shock that customers stick around long term - Compensation is trash, compared to industry standard. It’s borderline insulting - Senior leadership is a gossip clique that talks negatively about direct reports behind their backs, usually leading to un constructive feedback and criticism of employees, - Do you like standard operating procedures? If so, this is the place for you! They have checks and balances for their checks and balances. A daily time suck that impacts deliverables and timelines. - Never enough time in the day to get tasks done, which leads to unpaid overtime and a non existent work life balance. - The insurance offering was the worst I have had in my 15 years of professional work. The network stinks out loud, and the co pays are appalling - A complete lack of transparency about career path and upcoming organizational changes. Example; they will hire you for one position and then change your job description without notice.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While it’s difficult to read that your experience at OuterBox wasn’t a positive one, we truly appreciate your candor and the detail you provided. We’re glad to hear you found value in our remote work flexibility and team members who genuinely care about their work and each other. We also appreciate your kind words about our CEO. We think he's pretty awesome, and take pride in having leadership that strives to do right by both our clients and employees. We recognize that culture is shaped by everyone on the team, and we take feedback like this seriously. While we don’t agree with the characterization of our workplace as “toxic,” we are continuously investing in leadership training, clearer communication, and more frequent employee check-ins to ensure transparency and trust across all levels of the company. Additionally, we recognize the importance of career growth and are excited to roll out our new career path program, which will support and encourage development and learning across all levels. Our operational structure is designed to ensure quality, accountability, and consistent client results. We understand that these checks and balances can sometimes feel extensive, but they are an important part of maintaining high standards and client satisfaction in a fast-moving digital environment. That said, we’re always open to refining our processes to make them more efficient and less burdensome for our team, and regularly encourage our team to provide feedback so we can continue to fine-tune those processes. OuterBox benchmarks compensation regularly against market standards and strives to offer fair, competitive pay relative to experience and role. We also continually evaluate our benefits packages and make updates based on employee feedback and plan options available through our providers. We appreciate both the positive notes and the areas of concern you've provided. Honest input like yours helps us identify where we can improve while staying true to what makes OuterBox a great place to work for so many on our team.
