Problematic culture

Pros

The people are smart and mission driven (but then get demotivated by leadership's ineptitude)

Cons

When you see only 5 star and 1 star reviews on a company glass door - you can see a company culture in decline.

Thanks for your feedback. If you’re up for it, I’d love to learn more in person. Please feel free to swing by or set up a time to talk. Also, please address this with your manager at your weekly 1:1 and/or let us know about it in our weekly anonymously survey and/or our monthly CEO AMA. I agree that our team is wonderful - there is not another group of people who I would rather be working with every day. We’ve put a lot of structures in place to give ownership to the individuals who are doing the building every day - one big example of this is our switch to Agile development. Our best and important asset is our team and we need your big ideas to achieve our collective goals. You’re right that everything can’t be equally important, we’ve laid out our 2018 goals in the Company scorecard. I shared these goals at the company retreat at the beginning of the year and we review them as a company quarterly. They are also available in our internal drive so everyone has access and can keep them top of mind. These scorecard goals should be our guiding compass about what success looks like in 2018. Please let me know if you want to review them together, would be happy to share more and get your feedback. - Paris

Pros

- Mission: Mission driven company that helps millions of women and families. Can see the impact of your work in the world and help people in incredibly meaningful ways. - Team: Super women friendly culture. Incredibly smart and nice team. Everyone is there for the right reason and is super motivated. I love Ovia people. - Super flexible work environment

Cons

- Facilities are sub par. They make up for it a little with snacks and other perks but the building isn't great - Growing fast: the company is doing a lot of things and growing fast, this means there are a lot of new people but also some turnover as things change

A lawsuit waiting to happen

Pros

Smart, passionate people who should be aware that it is a sinking ship.

Cons

Management thrives off of ambiguity. They will use their power to screw people over - out of money, titles, promotions, you name it. Clearly, they also write their own fake reviews too. Fake reviews don't negate the bad ones. If you are serious about change, then change the culture.

Thanks for your feedback. It makes my deeply sad that your experience with Ovia left you feeling the way that you express yourself in this post. If there is anything that I can do or that you want to talk about I am more than happy to do so. I wish that you had reached to to me our any of the support network that we have while you were here. I believe that your experience is a uniquely unpositive one. As a company we work incredibly hard to ensure that people love working here and it shows. In 2017, we were voted by our employees as a top place to work in Boston by the Globe and the Boston Business Journal, we also only had a 5% voluntary turnover rate. Our mission, team and values drives the overwhelming interest in candidates who want to work at Ovia Health, in 2017 we received over 5,000 application for 50 positions making us one of the most competitive companies in Boston. I’m incredibly proud of our team and am proud to call them colleagues and friends. Our goal is that every person in the company deeply understands our vision and strategy. We haven’t always done as good of a job as I would like on this front, but I’m very proud of our efforts to change this. On the hiring front we have completely redesigned out process including criteria like job competencies and mission alignment. On the feedback side we have weekly 1-on-1 manager meetings with all employees, quarterly 360 employee reviews, a quarterly business review that all employees can access and an internal company scorecard so all employees know where they stand and where the company stands. These things have made a big difference and we are constantly improving them. -Paris
