Pros

They have a 5% 401K program (paid at the end of the year) They make a profit every quarter

Cons

Unpublished grooming code - actually a quibble that the CEO has against facial hair and his fearful minions falling over themselves to enforce the CEO's draconian anti-facial hair policy. Multiple people I've known for years got sent home to shave. Some resorted to getting medical or religious exemptions so they could return to work. Although these exemptions were accepted they are currently being reviewed by the PACCAR legal department, leaving great engineers in fear of termination. The company above all else values utter compliance with any request by the CEO, no matter how ill-conceived. For example: The KW division cafe got a remodel after the CEO got mustard on his tie getting salad. In 2010 the CEO banned employees from using the KW division cafe when senior management meetings were held there. The KW Renton plant cafe is closed except for very certain times because the CEO didn't like workers buying food except during scheduled breaks. ITD personnel have been told to keep formal dress cloths at their desks and to change into them when the front desk reports the CEO is visiting. The CEO could see PACCAR Corporate employees walking to a Starbucks, and banned them from going their outside of their lunch break. The CEO bans anyone from parking in the front row of parking lots.

Pros

401K, Pension Some cool co-workers who try to show you the ropes Lots of funnies stories around the office about Mark's micro-management and quirky dislikes.

Cons

Was recently told to work 11 hours for an engineering push - w/o freebees. Was previously told to work weekends for an engineering push, at least on that push we got free soda and coffee. Seems like these overtime e-mails from managment are the NORM now. Sad I took the job offer. Had another offer out of state, took this one so I wouldn't have to move the family. Now I hardly see the family. Dress code right out of the 1970 Ross Perot handbook.

Pros

It's fun to see the trucks you helped design rolling down the freeway in the lane next to you. Excellent brand recognition. Stable and profitable company. This company sits in a comfortable niche and is great at selling the products they produce.

Cons

Not a place where people feel comfortable expressing themselves. In over two years I never met a single (openly) gay colleague. People are very cautious about what they say within these walls. Self-destructive, cold-blooded (or paranoid?): I saw this company fire two good/loyal engineers for utterly ridiculous reasons in 2010. I remember management once "requiring" my entire dev team (group of 40ish design engineers) to work 50 hour weeks for a special "push" with no extra compensation other than free soda. That's when I knew I had to get out of there.
