Pros

The funny thing is that I can't disagree with the free drinks and snacks but isn't that truly a sad overall commentary about the company? Don't be fooled by the flashy new website with all the "smiling" faces. This place is a shell of what it once was.

Cons

It's really one of the most bizarre working environments I have come across. Again, despite the seemingly "upbeat vibe" the management tries to put out it's really just a smokescreen for a cold, and cutthroat reality that faces you. Would you believe they have cameras installed virtually everywhere on the premises watching and monitoring your presence. I just can't make this stuff up I assure you.

Pros

Rules do not apply if you are part of the fraternity. Working here will teach you what NOT to look for in a future firm.

Cons

Nothing is what it seems here, bizarro world. Privileged individuals have no rules therefor are free to do as they please. Say what they want. Do what they want. Others sit around typing on keyboards patiently waiting for their superior ruler to come down after long non-inclusive meetings, and completely rip apart their efforts and send them on a wild duck hunt in the wrong direction. For days! In Peak6 terminology this equates to an "agile process". Then some lucky people receive gifts and those in true Peak6 fashion are known as "performance plans". Once you receive this gift, you might as well start sending out your resume. There is no recovering from this. These gifts come from left field kind of like their “verifiable market information” does. Managers will talk, never to include the actual employee that did the original work ever again. Although you won't have any idea what is going on, you will forever deal with the repercussions for your "meaningful contributions" to the firm. This in Peak6 terminology is known as "expanding responsibilities". Lets continue on down the shady road. After some time the management will consider rehiring for current roles while the people are still employed. The new hires like always are treated well, fair and with care! Once the person they are hired to replace quits then and only then will you start to see through the smoke and mirrors. You might also be asked to write a review on this very site well before you experience the truth!

Thank you for your feedback. We’re honestly sorry to hear that you’ve had such a negative experience at PEAK6. It’s especially disheartening to hear that you feel that there’s a lack of transparency and that we aren’t thoughtful around growth and development. We certainly want to see employees thrive, grow and develop and be happy when they come to work. In general we’ve found the most successful employees at PEAK6 tend to be proactive, ambitious and accountable. They are courageous and communicate openly. If you have ideas and insights that can help improve things we’re definitely interested in your feedback. We’ve found that employees who are engaged are definitely happier. You can talk to your manager, HR or me. You’re right that one person can’t change a culture, but one truly dissatisfied employee can. We’d rather learn from your experience than have you be unhappy each day. However, we know we’re not the best fit for everyone. And, if you truly feel that you’re not in the best position to leverage your talents at PEAK6, we’d completely understand if you felt it necessary to make a move. While we’d be disappointed, we’re most interested in ensuring that you are in a role, and culture, that’s the right fit for you and your talents. Thanks, Brad

Pros

There are free sodas for everyone and candy. Those are way cheaper than providing their employees with decent lunches or healthy drinks. There ARE better drink options in the storage room but those are reserved for the partners. The pay is well BELOW financial industry standard. That's a pro because mo money mo problems.

Cons

If you like being told what your opinion is and what to do and are willing to be a scapegoat when things go wrong. This is the perfect place for you. If you believe the lies that quality MUST suffer in order to get out software in quantity then this is the place for you. If you want to work for less than industry standard in an environment where you are micromanaged. Yes they have that too! If you like to have your good ideas stolen and not being given credit for them, you are just in luck. IT partners and their lackies run the show here. If you like kissing butt then this is the perfect place for you. Just don't voice your own opinion unless you first make sure it's the opinion of one of the partners or their lackies.
