Pros

PEAK6 is a great place to grow your skills and move forward in your career. If you put in the time and effort, you will see the results of your hard work. Don't expect to fly by under the radar. Team members are expected to be proactive, thoughtful, and driven. PEAK6 has perks and culture that some take for granted. Social events, in-office luxuries, tuition assistance, open communication - just to name a few.

Cons

Nothing bad to say here. The calculation of bonus compensation is somewhat fuzzy, but it is called a bonus for a reason.

Thanks for the positive feedback. It’s good to hear that you feel there are opportunities for growth. I’m interested in any feedback you may have on the compensation communication and things that we can do to be clearer. Please feel free to reach out and share your thoughts either directly with me or with Kris G. Thanks, Brad

Trying to create great culture

Pros

General employee population is made up of great people. There is a lot of effort around creating a great culture - you have to feel good about a company that cares so much about trying to create a great place to work everyday. You feel challenged on a day to day basis. By nature of the business and the way we run so lean, each and every person carries a lot of responsibility.

Cons

It's unfortunate that in a company of less than 200 people, there are people who don't know each other. Perks are really nice, but perks don't create culture. Creating a great culture has to start with the Leadership. While you may feel challenged on a day to day basis, don't come to PEAK6 if you need to hear "good job" or get a pat on the back - this is not the place for that.

Thank you for the feedback. You hit on a lot of interesting facets of PEAK6. I’m glad to hear that you feel challenged and that it’s clear we want PEAK6 to have a great culture and be an amazing place to work I’m also interested to hear your thoughts that a couple of other people have touched on around how we should do more to create opportunities for people to get to know one another. We have done some work here across teams, but haven’t really focused on leaders getting to know everyone across the firm in the way you outline. As the firm grows and we expand efforts into multiple areas, we need to think through the best way to do this. Certainly for leaders in Capman, who are focused on the trading business, they need to be connected with the broader team. I will take this back to the team to think about ways to promote more interaction here. Thanks again for the feedback. Thanks, Brad

Pros

Mostly speaking about the tech side There are typically interesting problems and the work is stimulating The firm is willing to invest in growing people The firm adapts and pivots in response to business needs well, making for a very dynamic environment Hard work is recognized People are given ownership and accountability, and trust to find the right solution Always open to ideas and discussions about change They definitely care about getting people that have a strong culture fit, not just someone that has the credentials or resume Tech team has a decent culture, often fun and lively Can-do attitude taken to solving problems and working through rough spots

Cons

Tech could probably benefit from more work that is strategically planned and less that is reactive The lack of structure and lean style can be freeing, but can also backfire and make work difficult Tech and trading could probably be somewhat better aligned, but this appears to be improving

I appreciate you sharing your feedback about PEAK6 and the tech culture. It’s especially good to hear that you feel that we value growth and development because it’s something that’s very important to the firm, not just in tech but for everyone at PEAK6. It’s also good to hear that you value our ability to respond to business challenges. That is one of the more difficult things to manage in a fast-paced industry like ours and it’s something that we feel we do well. I’m also interested in your thoughts on how we could be more proactive with technology planning. We are open to ideas. We are definitely trying to provide more transparency on how we’re making decisions and involving as many people as we can in those decisions. We do know that we have room for improvement, so your insights would be invaluable in helping us improve here. Please take a moment to reach out to me, or your manager, to share your feedback and ideas. Thanks for your feedback – I sincerely appreciate it. Ryan Pratt
