Pros

• Pay is good enough (and can be great but for whatever reason nobody wants to talk about it). • Recruitment team is very good people, including the team in Manchester. • Beautiful office location with incredible views of Chicago. • Overall quite laid back (for recruitment). • Good resources available for day to day work. (LI Recruiter, Greenhouse, etc...) you'll have the tools at your disposal to do the job. • Young environment - lots of people to mingle with and make friends. • Extracurricular activities are pretty common - if that's your jam! If you are looking for a very RISK AVERSE job this may be a great place for you. It wasn't for me, but I know this is a positive for many on the market, especially those coming out of roles that lacked stability. That said see below (cons section) and don't expect to push the envelope, don't expect to make progressive changes for the better of those you are recruiting, and don't expect any of the hiring managers you work with to consider your opinion much on candidates you bring in. You will not be a consultant at PHMG, you will be a recruiter - keeping the lights on and keeping the candidates coming in. Consistently backfilling for leavers and recruiting the same exact profile over and over again. Again - this is NOT a con. For the right person this is a dream. Stability, Risk Aversion, and Repetition - it was just not the Job for me.

Cons

• Unorganized with little career mapping and unclear incentives • Lack of transparency • Incredibly repetitive day to day • Borderline favoritism in the workplace Overall, there are lots of very little, tiny issues in addition to those listed above that could easily be fixed but will never be addressed because there is nobody in leadership that has the initiative or eagerness to do so (or those close to the issues just lack the power to make meaningful change). It's quite sad because the people, and the environment, are generally good - I can foresee how the culture of inactivity could just create an endless revolving door of talented recruiters coming and going feeling the same kind of way I did during my tenure.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a comprehensive review, we really appreciate the honesty in sharing your experience. We’re glad to hear that you found many positives during your time with us, from our recruitment team and the tools we provide, to the Chicago office and the social activities. We also understand that the structured, risk-averse environment we offer might not be for everyone, though we know it works well for others who value stability in their roles. Your feedback regarding career mapping, transparency, and leadership is noted and taken seriously. We’re committed to improving our communication and providing clearer pathways for growth, and it’s comments like yours that help us identify where we can make real improvements. We also appreciate your advice on celebrating wins and supporting employees as they navigate the highs and lows of recruitment and I personally have taken this onboard and I will ensure improvements are made in this area. We’re sorry to hear that you felt some frustrations during your time with us, we’re continuously working on improving our processes and ensuring that leadership has the tools and initiative to make meaningful changes. Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you the very best in your future endeavours. If you would like to discuss any of these points further, we’re always happy to listen.
