Pros

Good people to work with if you can find them.

Cons

Company sold out to WSP. Shareholders made millions while 2/3s of the company didn't see a dime in a $1.8B acquisition. WSP attempted to give all Grade 8s $60k bonus spread over 3 years if you stick around for that time with the first payment 18 months from signing the retention agreement. Insulting amount of money for those who work hard and bought into the POWER culture for years but never made it to shareholder status (couldn't crack into the good old boys club). It's a shame really, this is the type of acquisition that makes everything more expensive downstream all the way down to our electric bills, and to think WSP (a publicly traded company from Canada with 69,000 employees) cares about the employees they just acquired it's ridiculous. They acquire companies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their POWER acquisition is nothing special, it is just another notch in their belt.

Pros

-Loved my coworkers! Everyone was so chill and got along great.

Cons

-The micromanaging is just...wow. Prepare to be treated and talked to like you're a preschooler. Just so insanely disrespectful. -My managers did not even attempt to make an effort when I reached out with questions or concerns. This in turn hurt my career in the end, which is unfortunate that it reflected poorly on me instead of them. -Work became stagnant and none of the PMs wanted to give up their billable hours, meaning I in turn had nothing of substance to do. -My manager also made up lies about me to try and force me out and unfortunately for me, it worked. No one ever asked for my side of the story. (Make sure you get everything in writing and forward all evidential emails to your personal email account. Lesson learned). -The pay SUCKS!!! Pay your employees what they deserve!!! Also, the PTO is nonexistent. 10 days a year that you have to earn.... that's a joke. -Billable timesheets. Bane of my existence. I understand why, but get rid of the utilization goals. This truly just adds unnecessary stress for no reason and promotes greediness within in the upper management to not delegate any of their work.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry that you didn't enjoy your experience at POWER. Micromanagement and lack of support are not aligned with our company values, and we encourage everyone to speak with their HR generalist if they aren't feeling supported or need something. Regarding compensation and PTO, we've hired a compensation manager to ensure that we meet employee needs and industry standards. Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We are committed to creating a supportive environment for all our employees.

Pros

The culture and flexibility at POWER is great. The leaders on a local level are generally pretty relaxed. The WFH policy at POWER is great and the work/life balance is high here. Also, typically there are some pretty nice end-of-year bonuses. This is a great place if flexibility and culture are what you are looking for. POWER will help you grow as a professional and have many career opportunities.

Cons

The corporate leaders have DEI at the forefront of their minds. It is abundantly clear that this initiative is hurting companies all over the US and the world. We are a service-based industry and our quality of work is going to keep us on top and growing, not diversity quotas. Also, base pay here at POWER is pretty low. The only way to make the industry standard for pay is to work way more OT and count on the year-end bonus. Without OT and the bonus, the base pay here at POWER is below industry averages by a sizable margin. Also, POWER has not increased wages to combat the massive amount of inflation we have seen in the last 3.5 years.

Thanks so much for taking the time to give us your honest feedback. We're glad you generally enjoy working for POWER! While POWER does not have diversity quotas, we intentionally create a culture where all employees feel comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work. Our strength—and our ability to produce quality work for our clients—lies in our differences. Championing a diverse, engaged workforce is not only good business practice, it’s the right thing to do. We also hear your concern about pay. We want you to know that we've recently hired a compensation manager to evaluate this issue and ensure our team members are competitively compensated. We truly appreciate the time you took to share your experience, and thank you again for your honesty.
