Pros

Friendly Co-workers. Friendly, albeit inept, supervision. Reasonable hours. We got to eat chili once a year.

Cons

No acknowledgement of accomplishments. Expectations much higher than training permits. Expected lab techs to be proficient instrument repair techs. Weak links not held accountable for their shortcomings. Expected to pick up slack for aforementioned weak links. Direct supervision basically useless for any questions regarding methods or instruments, left to rely on senior employees. Lab supervisor extremely disrespectful (called employees trained monkeys) General air of indifference in regards to the correct way to do things (just get a result mentality) Left to flounder with no help when it was clear you were out of your depth. Expected to work overtime while supervisors left early. CEO liked to impart his political beliefs on employees during annual meetings. The chili was never that good.

Pros

My position in Lab Ops offered many opportunities to grow scientifically. My co-workers were very professional, and we worked together as a team to reach our goals. I was encouraged to ask questions and give feedback. The labs were well stocked and the equipment was maintained well. Safety was the number one priority. I was also given the opportunity to attend MCF which was a great experience.

Cons

Too much time spent creating monthly reports to both client and Pace. The roles of Pace supervisor and client supervisor are not well defined. Supervisor did not meet many of the expectations of the client. Supervisor needs to become more proactive meeting client's needs.
