Pros

Good starting platform Learned a lot about investment industry Fun environment - plenty of parties, Halloween competition, sports leagues (beach volleyball was so fun)

Cons

Accounting managers mostly come from their auditors, Deloitte, so don't have any aspirations of getting promoted to management from within. Had one bad experience with a VP who wouldn't let me speak to explain a misunderstanding. Literally said to me when I opened my mouth, "this isn't a time for rebuttal." If this is your first job, stay no longer than 5 years. It's fun but you will progress your career if you gain the experience then leave.

Pros

The benefits are decent and you can buy an additional week of vacation every year. The company matching is pretty good (company match of 6% and 100% vested at 5 years). In my department and experience, I haven't had any micromanagers, though I know some exist. There are opportunities for volunteer work, which is fun. This is one of the reasons I'd be proud to work at Pacific Life -- involvement in the community as well as company matching for charitable donations.

Cons

No room for advancement, unless you're related to someone or have mastered the art of brown-nosing. Want to wear jeans? It's gonna cost you $5, and only allowed on designated days. Sometimes there are free jeans days.

Pros

Nice benefits if you can withstand the place!

Cons

Middle management are the worst I've experienced. Not the real humane kind! Rediculing and self esteem busting to well established, knowledgable employees. It's the worst case of clickiness! The weird thing is it's the unhappy and ungly that make the cool team at this company. Not sure if it's jealousy or just plain ignorance? The people here do not treat people well. I was referred by one who has worked there for years. I still hear sad stories that effect a comrad and fellow employee. It truly makes me quit frankly ill at the adult behavior at this company. I should have realized this when I was waiting for and interview... I saw folks on break, one of which had a very loud trash mouth in the downstairs interior courtyard. She actually ended up being one of my trainers! There's just very small town mentality here with very little class with the exception of one upper manager There were two that do stick out as polite and politically correct, however not sure how they don't witness the behavior of their supervisors. It's a cruel and unusual punishment of a job! Also, treated like bad adolescent children... This is no way to work, happiness doesn't exist this way trust me!
