True Startup Experience

Pros

One of the most thrilling startup experiences in my career. A company with a bold mission and trying to make a difference in the healthcare space. A place where you can learn from your peers and feel recognized for your contributions. The company is filled with highly motivated and nice individuals who care. The company made a significant pivot a few years ago to become more of an enterprise-facing business. This transition required bringing in new talents including more clinical and enterprise experience. Unfortunately, for some departments, this led to major changes including departures as the company wasn't the same one they first joined and loved. No one's to blame here in my book as startup's change and you either adapt with the change or you leave to find a better fit. The reality is that did happen and some of these reviews here reflect that transition. Today the company is on a very positive trajectory with major growth in revenue, volume, and employee headcount. Some departments such as engineering/product have nearly doubled in less than 6 months. The company culture has really taken off with social events on a monthly basis that our amazing officer manager organizes, all hands to give everyone transparency into what's happening, and public recognition of efforts across departments. I feel people at this company treat each other with respect and many even consider themselves as friends even outside of work. From a career perspective, this is a place one can expect to learn a lot very quickly and be expected to make an impact. It's an environment for individuals who thrive in taking ownership, being proactive and challenging themselves. The compensation and benefits are what you'd expect with a mid-stage startup. I've enjoyed my time at Pager and would highly recommend it, especially if you're seeking a mission-oriented startup environment.

Cons

The company does have some growing pains, it needs to invest more heavily in processes that allow scalability. There are a number of new projects coming that will challenge the team's ability to execute. Hiring more people and maturing processes will definitely be needed.
