      MTV Networks - it's not all it's cracked up to be

      Pros

      It's overall a fun place to work. You get to watch TV as a part of your job, which is pretty cool as compared to many others. Also when networking, the name MTV Networks garners much interest.

      Cons

      Promotions are based more on personal relationships and less on hard work. They don't pay enough money for the work that's put in. The employees that work the hardest don't seem to reap any of the benefits that one would think would come with working at a place like MTV (tickets to shows, networking opportunities).

      Pros

      Great, fun people. Its a large organization with opportunities to move in different directions and to different brands within MTVN. The money can be okay, but you have to fight for it. The plans always seem to be changing, so you it helps to be proactive. Its also a great place for networking as you can meet people from other brands and plan for your future that way. The benefits are good and their are some nice perks from time to time. If you like a strong corporate vision from the top, than this is not a place for you!

      Cloudy vision, terrible core organization, many people in very senior roles.

      Pros

      It looks good on your resume. The cafeteria food is pretty cheap. You can come as you are. I've seen people in what looks like pajamas at work. Go figure.

      Cons

      Because of the big name it's hyped up to be the greatest job in the world...In reality it's just a job like any other place. There's a clear line between management and the underlings. They don't associate with each other.
