Good Intention, Poor Execution

Pros

- Incredible coworkers. Never have I met more compassionate, knowledgeable, and collaborative humans.

Cons

- Toxic leadership - False promises from marketing to consumers - Burnout is riddled throughout the company with no resolve, yet increased work hours with no additional bonuses or compensation & the kicker is - the CEO comically “wrote” a book on burnout - Frequent gaslighting of internal issues and script readings during layoffs - Inefficient technology and systems, yet prioritization of engineering on unsuccessful products that is not driving the majority of profit - Focus on profit over people. Would rather train and overwork employees rather than hire / retain talent, hold reasonable expectations, & compensate fairly. - Laughable attempts at salvaging the culture through slack “questions of the day”, other virtual meetings with complete disregard of zoom fatigue, and no attempts at true transparency on company direction, layoffs, finances, etc - Inconsistent identity. Mission is the main driver with repeat statements of “what we do does not change” but we are constantly changing “who we are”. - Many projects started with hours worked only to be canned by last minute change of direction or budget cut. - Revolving door. Leadership has done a 360 since I have been apart of the company with frequent hiring sprees and consistent seasonal layoffs. - No career advancement paths for years, yet constant promise of promotion or opportunities.

Terrible leadership

Business Outlook

Pros

- Some smart and truly excellent employees. - Decent pay.

Cons

- Parsley Health is managed like the CEO's personal fief and vanity project. - The company exhibits a striking lack of vision; flailing about on half-baked ideas and cargo-culting the idea of "start-up". So much lip service paid to being "nimble" while functioning with the bureaucratic overhead of a Fortune 500 company. - There is no commitment to technology or technologists while the company grasps at tech company multiples. - This is primarily a marketing organization and only incidentally in the health or tech space. - More employee churn than any company should have.

Parsley Health Response

We are committed to fostering a culture of learning and growth at Parsley. That is one of the reasons that we invest in people and culture teams, team-wide manager training, and regular feedback via 3rd party partners, like CultureAmp, that have helped us create constructive systems for feedback and improvement within the organization. Everyone participates in this multiple times a year, including our c-suite. We respect your personal experience and we’re saddened that this is how you feel. However, responding to this review constructively is challenging because of its focus on personal attacks and hyperbole. We wish you the best of luck in the next steps in your journey and remain open to speaking directly should you wish to discuss your feelings about the company further.

Internal Medicine

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

- Interesting medicine and learning before investors jumped onboard - Interesting physicians and advanced care team providers who really care

Cons

- Overworked - Lack of boundaries around patient messaging - Lost many of their extremely talented physicians who started jumping ship back in 2018-2019 around their series A fundraising ventures - Lack of boundaries around employee use of physician time and resources - Company owner is not a board-certified physician and has some scary practice regimens. But, she's got the marketing down thanks to personal contacts. Scary what you can market to unknowing public and investors without qualifications.
