Pros

Staff are generally, healthy, exciting, and fun to work with. Because of their reputation, highly skilled people want to work for Patagonia which makes for a very eclectic team. The benefits are wonderful too!

Cons

There is a major rift between HQ in Ventura, and retail stores. In Ventura, the "Let My People Go Surfing" mentality seems to be alive and well but in stores, retail is retail. Long hours, poor communication from management, and the drudgery of retail life can chip away at morale. Staff in Ventura who implement policies seem to have no grasp on how a store actually runs. One of the most frustrating aspects of employment is that we are expected to complete annual reviews to improve performance but do not receive annual raises. And unless you are willing to relocate, you're not going anywhere, professionally.
