Expert Pandemic Navigation

Pros

From the start of the pandemic PBP kept all staff remotely employed. They immediately found an allowance and paid for home offices. Post pandemic, PBP chose to remain remote first even though they had moved into a beautiful new office space in Vancouver. Collaboration and team building are promoted in this space and offer employees a way to re-introduce an in office routine gradually, as well as interact with members across all teams and departments. Leadership is always keen to make time to participate in any social or collaborative in office events. As we have come out of the pandemic PBP has been able to elevate key new leaders with fresh perspectives, shedding the status quo of 'we have always done it this way' and is now foraging a new path in how they manage client relationships as well as re-establishing their position in an ever changing market place. As a member of the North American commercial team, I find it refreshing that instead of hunkering down in fear, the management had the foresight to make the most of the fast track to contactless technology we now find ourself in. Due to this momentum PBP is stronger than ever with a renewed lease on its products and services. I can say first hand that the NA commercial team is reaping the benefits of this innovation by expanding it's foot print at a rapid rate.

Cons

With a mandate of remote first it is hard to entice all members back into the office sometimes creating silos. It's occasionally difficult to have meaningful teamwork when you've never met people you are on a project with. I'd urge leadership to continue to encourage all members of their team to work in office if only once or twice a month.

Thank you for submitting your thoughts! We love how much you value teamwork and connection here at PayByPhone. Our core values include working together as one team and having fun, and it’s great to hear all of the ways you have seen this show up in your day-to-day. We hear you that the remote-work environment can be challenging, especially when it comes to connecting with new team members. While work can get busy and we have to prioritize tasks, it is also important to take the time to get creative in how we connect with our remote-first global workforce. We try to curate experiences for all employees to stay engaged through virtual hangouts like our Yoga sessions and company-wide trivia games, but we are also focused on bringing teams together where possible to have those in-person events and meetings. Our employees asked for remote-first, and we are proud to say we have been able to accommodate their ask. Now it’s time for the hard work of connecting those teams as we focus on retention and employee satisfaction.

Pros

Plenty of nice and friendly people. Great snacks

Cons

Some head of departments have an immature managerial style with a blame culture. This creates a very negative environment.
