Pros

People are great. Good friends there and sharp people.

Cons

Been at Pearson for 10yrs and since this new CEO took over, the company has gone down hill very fast. Layoffs this week are supposed to be around 4000. All about outsourcing and only hiring in India and Sri Lanka. Bad time in the U.S. for Pearson. Run far far away.

Pros

Great people, mostly working very hard to make great products

Cons

Bad, scattered corporate culture because the company grew through acquisitions without integration. Unrealistic time and work expectations from management.

Soon to be a B-School Case Study

Pros

The mission is totally noble, and there is such a breadth of interesting problems to tackle here (if you can get to the problems)

Cons

Upper management is strikingly inept. Despite a stated desire to be a digital education leader, leadership had no interest in what it meant to be a technology company. Not surprisingly, almost all of the technical leadership departed en masse. Now, even if they want to, they can't build any quality digital education products. Oh, the answer - outsource to Sri Lanka and India...what could possibly go wrong?
