Pros

Flexible hours during off season

Cons

No room to grow. Only work here if you want to stay a rep for life and be micro managed by a boss who doesn't know how to do your job, let alone his/hers.

Pros

Feel like you are helping others by creating useful educational products.

Cons

Common core. Culture is fragmented and impersonal. Disconnected. Many software teams entirely replaced by overseas work visa workers.

Pros

If you can people from the companies that Pearson purchased to get their market share (a dwindling number) - they truly live up to (former CEO) Marjorie Scardino's mantra of being Brave, Imaginative and Decent. It would be difficult to find more passion and dedication to a more noble cause than education.

Cons

The current management regime appears to regard students and "learners" as nothing more than profit centers and the quality of the products is secondary to the visibility of problems. The valued members of the Pearson's team have the title of Director (or higher) - all others are disposable in the eyes of management. While nearly 60% of its revenue is derived from North American markets, Pearson senior leaders have found the North American labor force to be too expensive; therefore, they are undertaking an effort to offshore labor in order to benefit shareholders...in other words - Pearson (a foreign company) is using US taxpayer dollars to offshore American jobs in order to produce greater profits for its shareholders, while sending stewardship of our children's' data to India and China. From "Brave, Imaginative and Decent" to "Effective" is not an improvement.
