Hours:
Be prepared to work. Your work week is essentially Mon - Thrus for client related work (See "Pros" for Friday). However work has due dates, deadlines must be met, therefore late nights are required. But with everything there is a balance, sometimes the work gets done in a timely matter and your week is shorter. I personally do not see this as a "con" however many think that a 40 hour week is all that is required. This is a heads up that it is NOT a 40 hour a week job.
Promotion Structure is Linear:
The structure is quite simple, this is good in some respects as it allows an "easier" climb of the ladder. Each level has expectations of the employee, if you have met that expectation you will most likely be promoted. What this prevents is a skill gap within each position. Salary is generally based on the level you are on, and rarely does it increase without a promotion. It allows experienced members on the cusp of a position to stay at a lower salary while the "newer" members of the tier are being paid the same. Perhaps this is common practice among companies, and is thus "normal". I personally would like to see the opportunity to get a "raise" without a required "Promotion". That being said, there's lots of room to grow still, and you can come up with your own projects that you can pursue in your spare time. This can allow you to be a leader in the company for certain items and enable you to grow all the much faster
Now an explanatioon of the Ratings: Note that these are not necessarily Cons
Career Opportunities:
4/5 - Much room to grow, not a 5/5 due to how linear it is .
Compensation & Benefits:
3/5 - Compensation is competitive with similar positions, but seems to be on the "lighter" side. Not underpaid per se, but you may find a slightly better offer. However, what you gain in salary you lose in culture and quality of life.
Due to how new the company is, the benefits are still adapting as it grows. Peloton has good dental and medical coverage, and a 3% 401k Match program. Which is not bad, but not so amazing that we drop everything and flock to it. The benefits will get better as time goes on however.
Work/Life Balance:
4/5 - This is largely up for debate and is entirely dependent on your life style. As a relatively young college graduate, I do not mind the long hours during the week, with the relaxing Friday. People with families may have a different opinion, but they also generally have a different work/life balance (leaving work earlier and then working from home). I do not wish to speak for everyone on this matter as it too large a variable.
Senior Management 5/5:
They lead well, make great strategic decisions, but most importantly you are not disconnected from them. You can email, talk, call any of them, and discuss any topic. They do not have arrogance and they are all willing to help you out to teach you anything.
Culture % Values: 5/5
See "Pros". This is Peloton's strongest component, and is what keeps producing amazing employees and keeps them with minimal turnover.
