Pros

Stable job with benefits. Good orientation program. Starbucks available in the hospital.

Cons

Action is never taken to remove people with "outdated talent" from positions, so people remain in their roles for decades and are never re-educated or prompted to improve themselves. There are a lot of leadership roles that overlap and have undefined ownership, so the levels of bureaucracy make it impossible for a motivated person to navigate. Business processes are interrupted and unwieldy. No sense of ownership. Good managers give up. Bad managers thrive by bullying those who take initiative. Most employees do not make eye contact and rarely smile at each other -- I think this speaks volumes.

Pros

Penn State Health is a good place to work because my colleagues are accomplished, the benefits are good when they are made available, the hospital has good facilities, and the work is interesting.

Cons

I have had a difficult time because they assembled my position with two part-time assignments, thus giving me a 40 hour work week and denying me the benefits awarded to full-time staff. I report to several different senior managers.
