Life in a leadership vacuum

Pros

There are very fine people working at PerfectServe throughout the organization. Sales continue to trickle in despite a palpable feeling of desperation and a handful of significant sales strategy changes over the last number of years. There is a nice level of autonomy, outside of the support center, due to a fair amount of management and executives being either remote or constantly traveling. If you don't care about company culture then you can make a comfortable salary without having to output much.

Cons

The company has gone through numerous significant changes in direction in the last few years. The technology is hilariously outdated and weak. Competition has increased. Senior leadership is mostly remote and middle management is left guessing at what to do next. The uncertainty generated by leadership decisions has led to silos where management has become territorial and petty. There is more CYA happening than actual value-added work. That atmosphere makes it impossible for honest feedback to be given without fear of retaliation. The culture is broken thanks mostly to directives made by executives through human capital.

C-Suite Issues

Pros

I worked for this company when there were only about 70 employees, and watched it grow to over 200 before I left. The small company mentality was great, as they treated their employees with respect, held holiday parties for them, paid them a year-end bonus, and fed them every month to celebrate the month's birthdays. That was when it was a fun company to work for, but after the C-Suite shuffle came along, all that quickly disappeared.

Cons

Executives like to give lots of orders and claim what they are doing is good for the company and the employees, but that isn't always the case. The company that it is now just isn't a good place anymore. Lots of manipulation of surveys makes things seem better than what they really are - the execs really know how to play the numbers game. The truth of the matter is that the way employees are being treated, there is more disengagement than ever. Better heed those warnings in the surveys!

Pros

The company is working very hard to make perfectserve exactly what the employees want it to be. For example there are weekly surveys that we do that ask how happy we are and what they can change to make us happier. I have worked for several companies in my lifetime and this is by far the best one I've worked for.

Cons

The main down side is the queue hours change just about every two months, so you may expect to work until midnight and then a few months later find that the hours change and the queue is only open until 6 pm and then a few more months later is changes again. However, they are still very good at scheduling you around your hours despite the change in queue hours.
