Pros

A lot of very talented engineers that enjoy solving problems and getting the job done. Engineers at PSW are simply driven and focused on delivering the highest quality on every program. It's great to work with such passionate peers. PSW leadership is focused on providing the best work environment possible and really care about you as as a person. The culture at Performance Software is definitely one of the best I have ever experienced.

Cons

The company is growing and is adapting to the growth. This is challenging because organizational changes are required to allow for successful growth. There are bumps in the road that require flexibility and patience.

Pros

Performance Software has the mantra that people are first, then the work, then revenue will follow. They surprise me with how diligent they are at holding to that philosophy. Each employee is assigned a team manager who is independent of the project they are working on. This TM has the job of helping the employee with their career. They provide the ability to push back on project management if it becomes needed. They actively seek to hear the opinions of the employees and acknowledge their faults and seek to correct them. All companies have their problems but this one is open to them and seeks to correct them. The retirement benefits are the stuff out of stories. I consider it a huge benefit.

Cons

The nature of our business does not allow for top salaries in the industry. They recently acknowledged that their salaries were too low and took steps to change the course of the ships.

Pros

-Free snacks available to employees. -Some very talented Senior Engineers who are great at mentoring. -Get to work in and understand many areas of the software life-cycle. -Laid back work atmosphere. -Smart and Fun people to work with. -Get to travel to various customer locations around the globe depending on project needs. -Beer Fridays. -Overtime pay policy for salaried employees. -Profit Sharing.

Cons

-Pay is low. I look around from time to time to see if it is worth staying. This is one issue that I have heard about since before joining almost a decade ago. -Snacks are all sugar heavy junk food (other than peanuts and cheese) which does not help those on a special diet. -Must be on a project with the right people to get recognized for your work. -Must be on a project with the right people to get mentored. -Some Senior Engineers are not open to change or ideas other than their own. They may be very smart but they are very difficult to work with. Affects team morale. -Previously, one poor review from the wrong person and it can set you back a year or 2 in advancement. Although with new review process hopefully this will change. -Expect you to complete at least 45 hours of work a week without working over 45 hours. Can be difficult to do depending on the project or if work was not quoted/estimated correctly. Working over 45 hours requires approval first due to overtime pay policy so must hit the mark in under 45 hours. -Company must be profitable to get a decent bonus at end of year.
