      Pros

      For many years, the company was a great place to work. Everyone shared a passion for their work and everyone worked together to reach a shared vision.

      Cons

      The company was sold. Many passionate and talented people were let go. The rest of us were expected to pick up the slack for the 20% reduction in headcount. The charities team was eliminated with the communication to the company employees that they were creating new positions for them to filter into. Little did everyone know that those people were blocked from applying internally or externally. It was the saddest thing to watch a company that you loved for many years turn into a soulless corporate greed machine.

      Pros

      for retail, decent work life balance. Good policy base. Support team is helpful when available. 401k matches 6%. Standard benefits-United healthcare. Working with charity organizations to help homeless pets.

      Cons

      Since the buy out, everything has been cut back by a lot. Labor has been slashed, but the expectations are higher. Store manager is the only salaried position in store and although scheduled 40 hours, must be prepared to work more to maintain metrics. Focus is not as much on caring (as was last year) to solely the bottom line making PetSmart feel like any other retailer. The training for new store management needs improvement for sure.

      Pros

      Was a good culture. The animals add a different dimension that most retail does not share. The associates and customers are passionate and generally happy to work or shop there.

      Cons

      Recent acquisition is changing the dynamic and eliminating a number of positions and the entire set of upper management has been replaced by Pay Less shoe managers. Shoes and animals--not quite the same thing
