Pros

- If you plan to work at PetSmart, make sure it’s a Unionized one. - If you “try hard enough,” you might be able to max out your raises. But with current leadership, that’s probably not possible…

Cons

-Corporate got rid of overnight associates and discontinued the assistant hotel leader position - PetSmart is starting to use AI for pictures of dogs, Instagram posts, etc. - Lots of old staff and POC staff being fired out of nowhere - All the staff and management give very fake vibes. They will smile with you, laugh with you. They will even say they care about you and call you “family,” but it’s all a façade - Won’t let you take Bereavement days off if there is a death in the family - Lots of retaliation from management and colleagues (which is against policy) - Very toxic environment. For a job where you’re just supposed to be taking care of dogs, 100% of the issues you have to deal with is related to petty, childish drama. Lots of gossiping, nosiness, anger issues, jealousy, emotional abuse, and even some sexual harassment, (which HR will do nothing about as long as it doesn’t interfere with the stores profits). - The staff will make you feel more like a social worker than a business leader - Absolutely ZERO teamwork in the whole store, specifically the Hotel - Shady management and business practices. Everything will be presented as a smart brand new idea! And then it turns out something important is being cut and more work is being added on - The workload has quadrupled over the past year while pay stays exactly the same - Nobody actually knows anything about pets or how to take care of them. Especially corporate.

Pros

You get to work and care for fish, small pets, and reptiles. It's very rewarding.

Cons

If you're a hard worker, they will keep putting more and more on you. The ones that don't work hard don't have to. Very micromanaged. No recognition for hard work.

Pros

Literally nothing. Not one thing.

Cons

Sporadic schedules, lack of proper animal husbandry, was told repeatedly to stop caring so much about how the animals are cared for, was forced to sell animals to homes with a reoccurring 100% mortality return rate, was told to clock out for breaks but to continue working due to always being short staffed, raises/promotions were promised but not fulfilled, benefits are non-existant, and management couldn't tip water out of a boot with the instructions written on the bottom of it.
