Pros

Opportunity to make more money if you work harder You work more with animals than people You learn and get better You can be creative Lots of opportunity for more pets Exciting- you never know what kind of day you will have

Cons

It's dirty, hairy and smelly Too many tasks that can never be accomplished in one day handed out Small work environment with lots of females equals drama Customers and management can be a pain in the butt Dogs can be really uncooperative and you need to keep your cool Maintaining your own equipment Wear and tear on your joints and body from wiggly dogs Risk of getting bit

Pros

Loved all the pets you deal with each day. Customer's pets were always fun to play with. Helping customers and making them happy was the best part of the job.

Cons

Pay for part-timers was minimum. Pay for hourly associates and key holders was also very low. You would have a pet-care manager manager making as low as $12.00 per hour and also have them run the building a couple of nights per week. The only people that made decent money were the salary managers.

Pros

It's a fun place to work with all of the animals and the dogs that customers bring in. Other than the typical customers that whine about prices or service or whatever, the customers are rather nice. We also get a lot of regulars who are always fun to talk to. While I'm a cashier now I was a stocker and it was fun to stock the product and see what new stuff came in.

Cons

I don't know how it is at other locations, but at the location I work at, the store manager NEVER makes employees full-time... There's only one person in the core store (not salon or hotel), other than the managers, that's full-time. The amount of hours are bad too, I frequently ask them if there's any way I can get more hours, they say they will and I get literally 1 or 2 hours in the following weeks. And in the three years I've been with the company I have NEVER received a written evaluation about my job performance, even though in the handbook it says we should. The store manager also doesn't communicate enough.
