Too much unneccesary hiring.

Pros

If you like to work around animals it's the job for you. You also gain alot of knowledge about how to care for certain pets.

Cons

Hiring in departments where no hiring is needed - thus a substantial decrease in hours. Also you get a lot of 'know-it-all-ism' from other employees in the Specialty department.

The VP management team is very competent, caring, and focused.

Cons

Medical benefits are pricey and a bit weak (high cost, high deductibles). The 401(k) plain sucks - too few investment options and you can't participate for 6 months - what is that all about? I could understand no company match for 6 months, but it's no skin off of a company's back to allow participation right away.

The Management at this store was the most unprofessional staff I have ever worked for. They treat people like they are below them, and are all friends with eachother so if something happens and you need to turn to someone there is nobody because theyare all friends with one another and tell eachother everything. When it comes to bonus time they have tried to get out of paying for medical bills for staff and for hurt animals because they are almost at their limit for the year and another complaint will look bad against them.
