Pros

-free grooming or dog training certification -health insurance and 401k -decent employee discount

Cons

- day to day operations regularly throw off by mandates from corporate staff who are completely disconnected from the situation in store - employees are issued cheapest possible equipment or forced to rely on ancient equipment and software - extremely toxic work environment, cliques between floor staff, grooming, training - expensive and insufficient healthcare coverage - no mental health coverage - corporate will do anything to not have to officially fire a bad employee: ignoring complaints from staff and moving toxic people around to new stores - completely insufficient response to COVID19, jeopardizing employee health with inappropriate PPE and contributing to the public spread of the virus by keeping stores open - toxic environment leads to high turnover - was lied to about multiple points during interview and training

Pros

Very good discounts. Coworkers are great. PTO is good and benefits are decent.

Cons

Where to even begin! If you want to be overworked underpaid and under appreciated by upper management this is the place for you. COVID-19 handling has showed this company doesn’t care for its employees at all. District leaders sitting working from home are telling stores to take down their safety measures as “guests should understand social distancing by now” which people DO NOT. Putting making as much profit ahead of safety as possible. Petco has paid out nothing besides measly $25 “bonuses” after taxes for staff working during all of this. They also decided to not give any raises this year to any employees, even though they are usually a measly 15 cents even if you are “exceeding expectations”. Great seeing the VP and CEO renting trailers and having a grand ole time traveling to all these stores across the country for fun but yet no we can’t pay our employees a raise. Ron Visited a store in my area before and I know all of the massive amounts of payroll and overtime that get approved to prepare the store for his visit. We hired a cleaning crew to do 2 overnight shifts to completely remove all shelves and clean under everything!! Imagine doing this x100+ times while he travels the country to visit these stores. He doesn’t even get to truly see how a store operates and functions, only see’s the stores in perfect condition. But to do all of this but not be able to give the employees a raise or reasonable hourly pay is laughable. Enjoy paying extra to continue to rehire and train management instead of just paying a little extra to keep all of your great employees. Also! If you do plan on trying to get promoted in this company be prepared to be a social media expert. Petco uses Workplace by Facebook and all the district leaders want you posting pictures and updates on it 24/7 of you and your “team” and if you don’t you get the cold shoulder.

Pros

You get to work with puppies in the office.

Cons

Leadership can't align on business needs. Decisions are not driven by data. Fear culture has developed over the last two years driven by the CEO and his leadership team.
