Pros

My coworkers are the greatest people. I love working with the local rescues and seeing all the dogs that come in and out throughout the day. I've made some wonderful friends, two-legged and four-legged alike.

Cons

Corporate doesn't care about the people who run their stores. Pretty much no advancement. Inconsistent hours and scheduling. Managers think their home/family time is more important than yours and will screw you over on the schedule. They'll also text you on your day off and TELL you you need to cover their shift because they're sick or something (but when you're sick they'll pretty much tell you to suck it up). We have to open/close alone and run the store alone for hours - somehow we're supposed to run the front, ring up customers, answer the phone, book grooming appointments, take care of animals, do the groomshop safety checks, sign in freight in the BACK of the store, do markdowns, the list goes on. It's too much. Managers will continue to train you on new things so you can do their tasks for them, without any kind of raise or benefit from taking on more responsibilities. Market Managers make up ridiculous rules, treat us like children, are harsh with deadlines even though we're always short on staff and time, yet they're completely useless when it comes to them doing their actual job. Groomers are expected to do cold calls, which is annoying on a good day. It's downright awful when the owner has to explain their dog has passed away since their last grooming visit. I could go on for ages but I think I've made my point that this company is toxic and if you're considering working for it.... you should run the other way as fast as you can.

Pros

The ability to interact with new people and animals.

Cons

Almost everything is bad about this job. Management at my location treats me like I’m their child, she yells at me, talks down to me, and curses at me constantly, she and most of corporate are money hungry jerks who don’t care if you are sick, don’t care if you’re injured, don’t care if you don’t get a lunch. They don’t care about you they care about their money. For example. I have family buisness tomorrow, extremely important family buisness, i was off on the schedule, but my manager texts me and tells me I HAVE to come in just because her stomach is aching. I don’t agree with that not one bit, I’ve been throwing up and extremely lightheaded WHILE AT WORK and she did nothing about it but stay at home and tell me to tough it out. She uses the “I’m the manager” excuse to get away with her cruel and childish behavior. I Have a job interview this week, I’ll never come back to this company or even shop there. Hope you don’t either.
