Pros

The Louisville office was close to home. Tampa based VP allowed me to lead my team without too much interference. I worked with some of the most intelligent men and women. Luckily I work or have worked with these same individuals since we all chose to leave Pharmerica. All advancing in their careers.

Cons

VPs and some in the C level suite set a tone of cut throat management. It was common place for the CEO to walk past employees and not acknowledge their presence verbally or through eye contact. The use of the F bomb, screaming and threats during management meetings was common place. My VP provided good leadership and I learned a great deal. Unfortunately my direct manager could be a tyrant threatening my direct reports over the phone without my knowledge. It was not uncommon for vacations to be canceled days or hours before planned approved leave. This sort of behavior in a pharmacy corporation can cause mistakes that can harm or kill a pateint. Most people do not believe my stories of working here but they are all true. Many of the same leaders remain with this company.

Pros

work with schedule out of desperation. able to be more laid back due to being long-term care facility (can listen to music/play music on the floor and has casual dress days.)

Cons

Atmosphere is bad, cliquey, gossipy, negative. Supervisor contributes to this. No recognition. Tries to play to your emotions and make promises for advancement that they won't fill and can't fill due to lack of advanced positions. Supervisor will get upset and literally ignore you and your emails like a third grade [girl] - except insert the inappropriate word :) Short Staffed. Often have to stay late. Blame is the most important thing to establish when a problem arises. People step on toes and throw others under the bus. The list goes on. Its like the people there are so used to things going wrong they anticipate it and they manifest it. Working there makes you unhappy and being to lean toward a pessimistic outlook. This is why I left.

A Great Starter Career

Pros

I work in the Medical Records department. The work shift is very flexible. I really like how we can pick and choose our work schedule. The office opens at 5am-5pm and I work from 5:00am to 1:30pm. I work early and I get off early. Another great thing is the job is very easy and only gets stressful at times when a lot of nursing home's medical records print very close to each other. So if you are profiling many homes that prints on the same day you will fall behind but of course you will always get help from other co-workers when you let your supervisor or lead know. Most of the time you lead who controls the work flow will know how much you have on your plate and they will distribute your work to others to get it done. It is a job where there's due dates and the job has to be done. But do not get discouraged, it is a very independent task job but you learn so much and get used to it and after awhile it isn't too bad. Everyone is helping and great. It is a very quiet building and peaceful job in general. As long as you do your work and keep yourself busy it is great.

Cons

It is really a production like work flow. If there is no work especially towards the end of the month, they will send you home early and you don't get your full 40 hours. You will either need to use your PTO to cover the remainder of time off or use your Perfect Attendance Awards that you receive each pay period for clocking in and out on time and by not missing a day of work. I believe the Perfect Attendance Awards is special because over Medical Records in Beaverton has it. But those Perfect Attendance Awards only work on Optional days when the building is closed, (1st of each month) or days where they tell you, you don't have to come to work if you do not want. Regardless of it, youwill either use PTO, Perfect Attendance Awards or go NO pay. The other thing that sucks is you do not have vacation or sick leave. There is only PTO that you accrue every pay period. The first year you accrue 3.69 hrs per pay period and each year it gradually gets accrues more. I'd say that based on the benefits, this career or job isn't so good for those looking for long term career.
