Pros

Good benefits, nice working conditions, educated devoted people, and amazing customers. Younger people are starting to join the workforce and bring in new and better ways to conduct business.

Cons

Some employees stay beyond their useful working life - mostly because of retirement benefit requirements and health care. People are celebrated for how long they stay county employees instead of the good work they do.

Pros

The location I work has many types of technology and a variety of work so it can stay interesting. We also are ahead of many other similar departments in other counties and states so it is good knowing we are staying above the curve. Also I get the opportunity to work with many highly professional and proficient specialists who handle specific computer subjects.

Cons

Due to limitations due to policies it is difficult to get new projects or ideas pushed through. This can make innovation difficult as well as fixing problems that require a long process or getting programming time from a group of developers.

Pros

You can create opportunities but it requires some creativity on your part. We've got some forward thinking leaders and employees that are pushing the agency to move beyond government business as usual. They're challenging the status quo and asking why which is generating conversation and changes in our service levels and the demographics of our employees.

Cons

Slow to change to new ways of doing business. Lack of strong leadership in key positions. Outdated compensation structure and job classifications.
