Pros

Great place to start out as an entry level engineer. You will work on lots of different parts of the aircraft whether you be in structures, electrical, avionics, systems etc. The entry level salaries aren't too bad and are appropriate for an inexperienced engineer. The people you will work with in engineering from the group manager level down are great and you will learn quite a bit from those coworkers. You will feel passionate about the projects assigned at the lower levels and will be part of the team. There is a level of enthusiasm about general aviation amognst the lower level employees, which is a big part of why one would choose to continue to work here. The cons below only apply after being here a few years, by which point I would advise moving to a better company.

Cons

Upper management at this company lacks proper structure and does not treat the engineering department as intellectual assets. What this means for you (as an engineer) is the following: - Any company investment in time/money for your personal goals to grow is near non-existent. Development as a Unit Member (in lieu of DERs at this company) is seriously hampered by the willingness to invest company resources or time. - The program management office is full of people that continuously make irresponsible promises and false claims to perpetuate the illusion of their own success. Poor choices for the program or the company are made at the expense of boosting ones own bonus/salary/ego. This has not improved after a recent reorganization. This drives the cycle of mass hiring followed by layoffs. - Lack of representation within the company for the engineering staff. Engineers are routinely demanded to work weekends, have a non-flexible schedule and are generally treated as production workers. "More hours in, more engineering out" This is not the case at Northrop Grumman, Sikorsky, Embraer, Harris or any of the other engineering departments within a commutable distance of Piper (they also pay for overtime... Piper does not!). Piper constantly hemorrhages intellectuals to these companies due to improved working conditions. - Pay generally is stagnant after initial retention raises (you have to threaten to leave to get a raise). - A barely functioning HR department that makes even simple tasks a chore to accomplish.

Pros

Competitive salaries. Employee Bonus of $1,000.00 with another this year if we reach our schedule. A week + off for the Christmas Holidays. Medical Insurance hikes were absorbed by the company the last two years. Simon Caldecott personally inviting employees with guest to the 80 anniversary of Piper with Dinner and a guest appearance by Jake Owens. Paid days off when the hurricanes hit Vero, never done before. Any many more....

Cons

Too much overtime, however that is being addressed.

Pros

Piper is one of the best places I have ever worked. The company really cares about its employees. Last year, the company gave a spot bonus to EVERY employee of $1,000 and brought in Jake Owen to perform at our company's 80th birthday employee celebration! This year they instituted another COMPANYWIDE bonus plan worth even more! This is in addition to competitive salaries, advancement opportunities and the company holding our medical insurance contributions flat for the last two years! The company also sponsored a shuttle flight for Piper family members out of Puerto Rico after the hurricane! I have no idea where some of the negative reviews are coming from (maybe competitors masquerading as former employees) but they couldn't be further from the truth.

Cons

The company just needs to keep doing what they're doing (and maybe lighten up on the overtime).
