Pros

Office convenient to midtown

Cons

The leadership team here is among the worst I’ve ever seen. The department heads back stab and conspire against one another and have created a horrible culture of negativity permeating every team from the engineers to BD to sales. When issues are reported, they are swept under the rug and nothing is done to restore order and faith among those that actually worked hard to grow the business. Stay away unless you enjoy letting your soul rot for a paycheck.

Pros

The people here, whether you're in engineering, data science, geospatial, creative, reporting, marketing, product, etc, are really smart and fun to work with. They are helpful and are invested in your success. The onboarding process and quarterly company meetings are very helpful for a cross functional understanding of the company. Over this year, we've transformed into a more product focused company and are looking to make conscious efforts to build products and features that make sense (versus chasing every financial carrot). With proper project/program management, there is transparency with the projects and workstreams the technology teams are working on. The NYC office space is awesome. 2x breakfast/lunches are great, with unlimited snacks and drinks and comfortable couches to lounge and get more stuff done. Ping pong tables, hacky sack, darts, video games are an added bonus. A new kegerator was installed last week with quality craft beers (What a time to be alive at PlaceIQ!) There are monthly happy hours and/or events to be social. Work/life balance is something that exists here and people are not shy to use up vacation days. Our CEO is open and receptive to hearing what we think - he is accessible if you want to voice your opinion. That is cool. The company is profitable again, and the layoff horror stories are a thing of the past. This isn't my first job out of school (layoffs can happen anywhere and in any industry vertical).

Cons

Sharing an office with a real estate company whose staff act like college undergrads. No 401k match.

Pros

The company has recently, successfully completed a a transition/entry into data and analytics and should no longer be purely thought of as an "ad-tech" company. For years location data was built on the back of bidstream data and while that is still a strong and scalable component, data at PlaceIQ is so much more than that now. We are beginning to see the fruits of our labor and have a ton of momentum with data and analytics products. In addition, the people and culture at PlaceIQ are unlike that of any other company where I've ever worked. Smart, passionate people that work hard and have a lot of fun at the same time.

Cons

At the risk of sounding cliche, there are not many cons other than the fact that there are a million things we COULD do in terms of product but only so many hours in the day, so we have to constantly make sure we stay focused.
