Pros
The people here, whether you're in engineering, data science, geospatial, creative, reporting, marketing, product, etc, are really smart and fun to work with. They are helpful and are invested in your success. The onboarding process and quarterly company meetings are very helpful for a cross functional understanding of the company. Over this year, we've transformed into a more product focused company and are looking to make conscious efforts to build products and features that make sense (versus chasing every financial carrot). With proper project/program management, there is transparency with the projects and workstreams the technology teams are working on. The NYC office space is awesome. 2x breakfast/lunches are great, with unlimited snacks and drinks and comfortable couches to lounge and get more stuff done. Ping pong tables, hacky sack, darts, video games are an added bonus. A new kegerator was installed last week with quality craft beers (What a time to be alive at PlaceIQ!) There are monthly happy hours and/or events to be social. Work/life balance is something that exists here and people are not shy to use up vacation days. Our CEO is open and receptive to hearing what we think - he is accessible if you want to voice your opinion. That is cool.
The company is profitable again, and the layoff horror stories are a thing of the past. This isn't my first job out of school (layoffs can happen anywhere and in any industry vertical).
