Pros

- Incredible people (intelligent and creative) to work with - Amazing work/life balance. The occasional worked weekend is sometimes given back in lieue (worked two weekends in 5 years - one was returned). - Generally cool with semi flexible hours. 8:30-5, 9:30-6 or anything in between.

Cons

- Some of the projects have a lot of management, and its not really obvious what all of them do. - Legal is a joke. They do not actively know what the requirements are for a lot of games, but tend to simply require the harshest restrictions possible. Advice: Never suggest anything to legal. Get them to return specific requirements.

Okay place to work. Beware of the yellow badge.

Pros

There are some great coworkers here who are very hard working and are passionate about their work. Also, SCEA produces some great products that you can be proud to say you help develop/market.

Cons

Being a very Japan-centric company, there are certain rules, boundaries and restrictions that keep this place from moving forward and keeping up with the competition. Also, this company liberally uses contractors as expendable workers who they run through regularly with no sense of appreciation.

A Good and Fun Place to Work

Pros

Fun industry and the ability to feel a part of the product. Good inter-functional cooperation, for the most part enables one to succeed on projects that require cross-functional participation.

Cons

Development costs have dramatically increased, making it ever more difficult to product profitable games which leads to a tendency to make "safe" bets (sequels, etc), which takes away some of the fun in creativity.
