Pros

There is nothing at all to be proud of in this company.

Cons

Employees are constantly overworked to the breaking point and left completely exhausted. Brutal workloads pile up with no concern for human limits. Managers shows zero care for burned-out staff and only keep dumping more responsibilities.

We are sorry to receive your feedback. We are assuming the position you are referring to is about a Behavioral Health Technician (previously called Therapeutic Staff Support). Our BHTs are able to choose if they want a Full Time or Part Time caseload, and we allow flexibility regarding Part Time hours based on staff and consumer needs. Supervisors are not in the practice of adding to BHT "workloads" if the schedule does not permit, based on the staff's availability. Regardless, we are disappointed that your time with Ponessa Behavioral Health, in any capacity, was not successful and we wish you a better fit for your future endeavors.

Pros

The mission itself was meaningful and important.

Cons

Chronic understaffing meant employees were stretched to a breaking point, and the quality of care for clients inevitably suffered. Burnout was common, and staff often left quickly, making the cycle even worse. Without enough hands or support, employees couldn't do their jobs effectively, and the clients were the ones who paid the price.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We agree that adequate staffing is essential to both employee well-being and the quality of care our consumers receive. Periods of understaffing place strain on staff and are not sustainable, and we take these concerns seriously. Feedback like this reinforces the importance of maintaining staffing levels that allow employees to do their jobs effectively while upholding our mission. We appreciate your honesty and the time you spent supporting our consumers at Ponessa Behavioral Health.

Pros

You get a firsthand look at the mental health challenges in the community and develop compassion.

Cons

The caseloads were overwhelming, and you're basically thrown into situations without adequate training or tools. There was no clear supervision, and communication from the top and compounded by a system that seemed more interested in billing hours than actually helping clients. Staff turnover was high because no one felt valued.

We agree that the work we do in IBHS can be challenging. Our staff provides services and support directly in natural settings, which can result in a need for more intentional outreach and support. The Therapeutic Staff Support role transitioned to Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) approximately 5 years ago; so my guess is your experience was under different regulations. With that transition came increased training and supervision. Before even working with a client, we provide new staff with over 60 hours of training, which includes on-site training with prospective clients. New staff are enrolled in a weekly Mentor Group for 3 months, which provides additional support and training as they adjust to their new role. We also provide weekly group supervision, individual monthly supervision, and ongoing on-site training for BHTs with Master’s level clinicians. BHTs work closely with their assigned clinician on their case for frequent guidance and treatment direction. We are proud to say that our leadership team (IBHS Director and County Coordinators) are all very dedicated, knowledgeable, and experienced supervisors in IBHS specifically; who have been invested with Ponessa Behavioral Health for many years, and some decades.
