Pros

PV is in a league of its own. This is a place where I actually feel that my contributions matter and I am not just another number lost in the shuffle. I am impressed with how my leaders (sup, captain, etc), request and value my participation in meetings and with process improvement. Any other company just hands you the manual and asks that you follow it....no questions asked. The best part is that I know how valuable I am to the team and the company every single day. At other companies you wonder how you're doing, only to find out at a yearly review that you're failing miserably. No company is perfect, and PV is no exception. What makes them different is their (our) openness about our failures. We have a culture that says it's okay to reveal what we don't do well. We then constantly identify those failures and work together to find a better process. I also love: flex time, vending machines, work environment, lunch room, town hall, outside of work activities, baby baskets, health benefits, 401k, coffee bar, music in bathroom, vending machines, concierge services, etc.

Cons

Do a better job of hiring, and/or do a better job of identifying people who really don't want to be at PV. These people kill the culture. Our last HR crew faked it until they quit. They also became close buddies with employees, which is an HR "no, no", and spread their negativity and gossip to anyone they could. I couldn't be happier that they left and we now have a very professional HR team onboard. I understand that the old HR force is still engaging in inappropriate behavior through a Facebook group they created for ex employees. Who has time for that? Grow up and move on. "It's a mean world out there people, be nice to one another"...... Time to take your own advice for once.

Pros

There are a million pros to working at PV. Flexible schedule, team environment, family oriented, positive energy, good relationships, being able to share your ideas/visions, challenging work, engaged staff, management team that is constantly looking towards the future and trying to do what is best for everyone involved, an incredibly competent (borderline brilliant) CEO who truly cares for the clients as well as the employees, great benefits, competitive pay, growth opportunities, wanting to go to work each morning, and the list goes on and on. This is hands down the best place I have ever worked and I plan to be on this powerful bus for many years to come!!

Cons

I think it's time somebody go very real about the cons of working at PV. The fact is, the biggest con is dealing with people who want to be paid to do nothing. These people disrupt teams, destroy relationships, outright lie, and basically act like a 3 year old throwing a fit. Then, after they either decide to leave on their own or they are asked to leave due to their behavior, they act as though they have been wronged by the company or the employees. The majority of people who have left would be asked to leave any job if they acted the way the did at PV because regardless of whether people realize it or not, it's not real life to expect to get paid and do little to no work.

Pros

Are you are a family member of the CEO/Owner and/or are you a High School chum of the CEO/Owner's wife with NO experience and NO formal college education? If you answer yes to this question, you will go far at Practice Velocity. Do you enjoy working and “belonging” to a cult-like atmosphere where any question raised about the financials or the well being of the company are met with resounding hostility and often times the employee is swiftly excused from employment? Practice Velocity is the place for you. Can you handle “Leadership from the Heart/Heart of a Leader” training with Practice Velocity's main charlatan—“The Positive Energy Guy” ? It is a mandatory two day course to indoctrinate new employees into Practice Velocity's brand of antagonistic thought processes. Those who think for themselves, refuse to take the class, or mock the class are soon terminated.

Cons

Management and several of the lower IQ minions are in tightly-knitted cliques: They will use you for their own gain and terminate you when you stand up to them. Practice Velocity is a company that promotes infidelity. It seems that people are encouraged to “cheat”--especially at sanctioned events (e.g. UCAOA). All employees were offered “FREE” coffee until they stopped suddenly and employees had to pay for their new coffee via a hired Barista. Funny thing is that the Barista was shut down by the Health Department less than a week into the program. To prove his “manufactured” power, the CEO/Owner will often demand that employees get up to dance, especially when there are potential clients visiting the Practice Velocity Compound. Any resistance to dancing is met with swift ostracism followed by termination.

Thanks for your input. We are sorry that you do fell like you fit at PV. We can assure you that the vast majority of employees have stated on our anonymous surveys that they are happy here. As far as hiring family members, except for the CEO's wife (who is eminently qualified for her position and has an earned college degree), there are no family members in any management or leadership positions. As for high school friends of his wife, there are none in executive leadership and only one in any leadership role. Although that leader does not have a college degree, he seems eminently qualified, since he previously held the same leadership position at another software company. The company supports marital fidelity and offers an employee assistance program for staff undergoing marital distress. Although we do not police our staff, we are not aware of (nor would we ever encourage) any infidelity at conferences. You are correct that Practice Velocity is one of the only companies in the area to offer highly-subsidised, barista-made coffee in the workplace. Although the coffee bar was closed at the health department's request for a little over a week to install a larger water heater to bring up to code, the coffee bar is appreciated by the staff and hardly seems to be a negative. As for the "main charlatan" Brandon Johnson, he does coordinate training for all staff. He is co-author of MIPA's Business Book of the Year, Hospitality from the Heart and was recently named a Top 30 Global Guru for the Hospitality Industry. As for the line dancing, participation is completely optional. If you were still working at PV, you would realize this, as software developers rarely participate and they suffer absolutely no repercussions. As for "incompetent managers" who "wander around" and "aimlessly chat", that seems amazing for one of the fastest-growing companies in the Rock Valley region, an INC 500/5000 company for three straight years, a Top 50 Medical Economics EMR company, and the company with the #1 EMR software for urgent care in every survey ever taken. We do wish you the best in your new job. If you really are a current employee and do wish to leave PV, please see HR within the next 2 weeks and they will arrange for you to sign some paperwork, that will enable you to receive a severance package with 4 weeks of pay.
