Pros

Many employees are Good people, loyal to the company and to each other.

Cons

There is Zero loyalty to the staff. Employees are expendable. As long as you do your job, don't question how your Manager wants things done or share your knowledge, expertise and ideas, you'll be fine.

Pros

Remote work. Pension. 401k. Company promotes work like balance. Great PTO accrual.

Cons

Managers of people to direct report ratio overwhelming on both accounts. No time available to promote growth or development in team or personally. Working 60 to 70 hours a week to meet daily expectations, with end result pushing you to do more. Company promotes PTO and caring for mental health, being told we need to limit PTO, and push mandatory OT. If someone is out for 1 day they need to make up 4 hours, 2 days, 3 hours and so on. Being asked why the team is carrying a high PTO balance, they need to take time off. It is important. Teams are burnt out, exhausted and beat down. Employee's are inquiring about FMLA being told to not offer it as a resource as we have too many cases under current leadership. If someone is out on protected leave manager tells you that you didn't do your job. Zero relationship with direct boss. Zero growth opportunity in 1:1s. Show up with notepad and pencil prepared to make notes for the next hour of what projects they have due by end of week that you need to complete on their behalf...or else...

Pros

Telecommuting, Telecommuting, Telecommuting, Telecommuting, Telecommuting

Cons

This is the 3rd year in a row that Premera has done major layoffs. This time, I was a casualty. This place puts up a good front. Decent mission statement, etc. But when it comes time to actually put their money where their mouth is, they fail. This company does NOT care about its employees. They take away all support staff until those left are stretched thin trying to cover all the work and then finally they get rid of you too. Also, you'd think a health insurance could give better medical benefits to its employees.
