Pros

Good benefits (pension, 401k, medical, dental, life etc.) flexible schedule and easy commute. I actually loved working for Premera and ranted and raved on how such a great company they were, until now.

Cons

Going through another round of what they call layoffs (reclassifying job descriptions and realigning the company once again because it obviously didn't work the first how many times) keeping the new and dumping the old. This has been happening for a very long time now and has everyone feeling more and more like they are walking on egg shells. Management is very top heavy, continuing to hire director and above positions while letting those who actually do the work go. It is very unsettling and frustrating. Customer focus is the key but as a customer myself, I'm unsatisfied.

Morale at an all-time low

Pros

Somewhat flexible work schedule Nice campus Commute Great co-workers who care about the job they do

Cons

Poor communication to associates on many topics Major layoffs for associates and promotions/raises for executive leadership Morale at an all-time low Zero job security Extremely top heavy management Associates used to have so much pride in working at Premera. There has been so much negative press about Premera in the last year that people don't have that same pride any longer.

Pros

Cafeteria, heath rewards, flexible hours, parking if you get there early enough, opportunities to work from home, casual dress code, location

Cons

Management is top heavy. Its all about who you know. Operations department - specifically claims and customer service - is rife with cliques.Managers tend to hire and head hunt friends for Team lead positions rather than competent candidates. When TLs can't perform they are moved to another group to try again rather let go.Asking too much of the worker bees. Employees are told to speak up but then punished for doing so.
