Toxic culture

Pros

There are a lot of nice people there and the commute was good. Sometimes they let you work from home, but the hours were long.

Cons

Horrible treatment by bullying executives, one who admitted that it’s a culture of fear. Long hours spent jumping through hoops for no reason.

It's upsetting to read your feedback and far from the culture we are working to create for our employees. If you are open to discussing your experience further, please contact humanresources@premera.com.

Pros

The environment is very collaborative and the culture claims to care deeply about Lean Leadership practices. Where this is actually practiced, good things are happening.

Cons

The company fails to train managers of people as well as managing the resulting issues. Good managers are far and few between, which can make the experience terrible. There is also a ruthless and cold attitude from the head of HR that the business matters more than the people.

I whole heartedly agree that Premera's employees are our greatest asset and that having strong managers in place is essential to growing and retaining our top talent. As an organization working to evolve our culture, we’ve made great progress by introducing more training and resources to build strong leaders and ensure a consistent management experience for our employees. That being said, there is still work to be done and we are always looking for ways to improve. I’d like to invite you to reach out to your HR Business Partner or to me directly, so we have the opportunity to discuss your feedback in greater detail. – Cecily Hall, SVP, Employee Experience

Pros

Nice campus, free parking, cafeteria on site, walking path behind campus, company desires to improve health care in our communities, education benefits, my managers provided fair feedback,

Cons

Compay is in a state of change and it shows up in the company culture, in the last two years Premera has gradually laid off hundreds of employees (approx. 300-500) Moving up in the company can be challenging Culture and opportunies between departments can vary

You are right; we are in the midst of change as we reposition ourselves to tackle our purpose of making healthcare work better. We understand this kind of journey takes time, and want to make sure these changes are transparently communicated to our employees. We seek to do this through our employee forums, employee survey, and all employee calls so we can discuss broad-based changes that impact us all. Our employees have a huge role in shaping our culture and future. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughtful feedback.
